The purpose is to allow for easy integration w. These are local users created using WMIC scripts and eq API's. I apps running on the server which have created about 40,000 local users. The installation of the OS and SSH server (which was an optional install in the Debian installer) took most of that time, after the system was up I logged in, typed "apt-get install apache2 cacti" pressed enter and less than five minutes later I have An apache webserver, PHP, MySQl, and a php application all installed an operational. I set up a Command line only Linux Virtual Machine with SSH, Apache, PHP, MySQL and CACTI in a bout a half hour yesterday. They have a repository of software (you can add other repositories too) You open up the package manager application in a GUI (or can use the command line package manager) and you select the software you want it downloads and installs it, along with any additional software or things that may have been needed to run the application and it also default configures it for you. In many ways Linux is easier, basically think of it like the Appple App store or Google Play store, or even the Microsoft store. See my second post about Linux software installs above this.
